The Nadir of Nadir

Nadir has been put on hold indefinitely. The is the last bit of clean up in the process of removing myself from the comic book business.

I started down this road when I ended my full-time involvement with Arch Enemy a year ago. Also I'm no longer involved creatively with the previous artist. Given my expereinces in the business over the last couple of years, I realize that working in comic books is very far down the list.

For now my focus is on my design career. Thank you for everyone who's had interest in the project. I'll be heading out to the San Diego Comic Con, so I might get jumpstarted again after that experince in July.

My thoughts on the MacBook Air

As someone who travels alot and uses their laptop as their main computer, I'm seriously considering getting a MacBook Air to either supplement or replace my MacBook Pro that I've had for two years. The reason that I'm not as feature phobic that I read about online pretty simple. Since January 1st, I've yet to use the Superdrive, ethernet, 2nd USB port or replaced the battery. The other thing is that my 15" MacBook Pro fits just fine on the tray table on a plane in coach, so it definitely will not be a problem with the MacBook Air.

For me, the MacBook Air will bigger, brighter faster and lighter than my previous computer 12" Power Book (867mhz). If I can do my job on the old 12", I'll be more than able to work off the MacBook Air

I love carbs, I'll miss them.

2008 is the year that I'll once again be attempting to get back down in fighting weight. After watching my boss drop 20 lbs in a month, I've been inspired once again to lose some weight.

What I ate last week:

Monday Feb 4th, 2008

Breakfast: nothing, 0 calories, 0g carbs
Lunch: Whataburger, 1310 calories, 184g carbs
Dinner: Whataburger, 1800 calories, 230g carbs
Other:72oz Cokes, 740 calories, 205g carbs
Total: 3,850 calories, 619g carbs

Here is the updated menu:

Monday Feb. 11th, 2008

Breakfast: Still figuring it out, 400 calories, 2g carbs
Lunch 1: Chipolte, 426 calories, 12g carbs
Lunch 1: Chipolte, 426 calories, 12g carbs
Dinner: Still figuring it out, 400 calories, 2g carbs
Total: 1,652 calories, 27g carbs

Today's weight: 305 lbs. and I would like to get down to 225-250 lbs. It's crazy, but I'm pretty much giving up carbs, sugar and caffeine cold turkey. Hopefully this process won't kill me.

My Year In Cities 2007

Here is a list of all the places i visited this year, in chronological order:

  • El Paso, TX*
  • Los Angeles, CA*
  • San Diego, CA

Those cities marked with an * were visited multiple times on non-consecutive days. I didn't get out nearly as much as i did in 2006, but there is a plan to fix that. The goal at least 12 trips this year.

NBFAA site redesign

The last project I did with Meva, Inc. finally went live. It was one of the few projects that I didn't design myself, just coded the initial XHTML + CSS.

The National Burglar & Fire Alarm Association came to Meva, Inc. to do a total redesign. The original site was circa 1990's with table driven layout and large load times. Geneva Stimac was charged with doing the redesign with some visual modifications by me. I came in took the new design and tweaked to be to flexible with normalized, 12 column layout.
